Drama powers progressive teaching at Shishuvan
Shishuvan believes that learners come with a curriculum of their own. The school celebrates a progressive teaching environment in which learners find the support for their learning. The role of the teacher is invaluable at Shishuvan. It is through them that students relate to the subject matter that forms their academic curriculum as well as to the value systems that sustain their journey through life.
Drama for learning conventions create multiple opportunities for student-led learning, the drama safe space allows for trial and error, and the opportunity to take risks with which to learn. Focussed on the teacher, our UDL program enables them to nurture the students’ curiosity, discover each students’ unique potential and further hone those skills.
Shishuvan teachers are attuned to innovative teaching methods, all of which resonate with the values of the drama safe-space. They have taken to the program like ducks to water. Our Specialist Trainer, Kathryn Doshi who facilitated the program says, “these teachers are quite capable and pretty advanced. They are able to incorporate the drama games into an entire cohesive lesson plan with their learning objective”
The methodologies and practices at Shishuvan have become a benchmark for many school standards and we are certainly proud to contribute to it.
